    James Langston Edmund Caan je američki filmski, pozorišni i TV glumac, koji je rođen 26. marta 1940. u Bronxu (New York).

    Kan je rođen u Bronxu (New York), od Njemačkih imigranata Sofije i Artura Kana. Maturirao je na Neighborhood Playhouse, gdje je učio glumu kod legendarnog učitelja glume Sanforda Majznera. Igrao je nogomet na Michigan State University.

    Njegova karijera počinje u tv serijama kao što su: The Untouchables, The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, Kraft Suspense Theatre, Combat!, Ben Casey, Dr.. Kildare, The Wide Country, Alcoa Premiere, Route 66, i Naked City. Njegova prva filmska uloga je bila u filmu Lady In A Cage, 1964. godine. Tri godine kasnije se pojavio s Johnom Wayneom u filmu El Dorado. Svoju prvu nagradu je dobio za ulogu u filmu The Rain People (1969), koji je režirao Francis Ford Coppola. Kasije je unajmljen od strane Coppole za film Kum u kome je igrao mafijaša Santina "Sonyja" Corleonea. Za ovu ulogu nominiran je za Oscara kao najbolji sporedni glumac.
